The Saga of Korpiklaani The wilderness and the deep forest have always been a strange and fearsome place for both travelers and those who call it home. Finland’s ancient lore speaks of a forest that grew over a village, of the “wanderers of the wild” and the “golden heroes of the woods”—a people who lived and thrived within the deep forest.

This folk carried with them jewelry: “shining silver,” as those who had seen them would say. With these adornments, the forest people could travel great distances to foreign lands, finding protection, wisdom, and the strength to cross seas, continents, and the lands of silence. Their jewelry never betrayed its bearer.

They were spoken of as the “renowned, adorned wanderers,” whose evening gatherings, music, and songs reached the villages beyond. “The forest resounds, the wilderness echoes,” the villagers would say the next day. Stories of these people traveled among men, passed down from father to son for hundreds of years. Among the forest folk, their jewelry was passed down as words were—from father to son, from mother to daughter. Each of them was known by their adornments.

Forged at the dawn of time and under the first sun, this adornment was created for the seeker of wisdom. It was shaped in the form of a shaman’s drum, with an ancient shamanic symbol placed at its center as a reminder of all knowledge. The jewelry strengthened the wanderer’s journey through both the known and unknown worlds. Its bearer gained all the wisdom of those who had walked the path before them.
